The 14,000sq ft Klahoose Multi-Centre was planned and built to serve as an icon of the Band's success. A $6.9 mil landmark almost fully self-financed, the "Relationship Building" is an administration centre for Chief and Council, health dept, social services, and exercise gym, a multi-purpose assembly hall and commercial kitchen for +/-160 hot servings. It is also an emergency refuge for the entire community and fully functions during frequent island power outages. Klahoose's very own Toba Inslet western red cedar was prepared at the Band Mill & installed on all ceilings and finish carpentry by Band Members employed by the project. Working very closely with the client, all visible exterior cedar installed by the subcontractors on the building is Klahoose wood, something historically emulating the longhouse tradition which the Band is very proud of. Klahoose Multi-Centre received the 2011 VRCA Silver Award of Excellence.
